Phytotoxicity of Alachlor, Bromacil and Diuron as single or mixed herbicides applied to wheat, melon, and molokhia
This study investigated the phytotoxicity of herbicides applied singly or as mixtures to different crops under greenhouse conditions. Growth inhibition of the crops was taken as an indicator of phytotoxicity. Phytotoxicity of mixtures was estimated by calculating EC50 value in toxic units. EC50 (mg/kg soil) of Alachlor, Bromacil and/or Diuron were: 11.37, 4.77, 1.64, respectively, on melon; 0.1...
متن کاملSurvey for Herbicides in Well Water in Tulare County
The Environmental Hazards Assessment Program of the California Department of Food and Agriculture conducted a well survey in Tulare County to determine the presence of the herbicides simazine, atrazine, prometon, bromacil and diuron in well water. These herbicides were chosen because of their use on crops grown in Tulare County and on rights-of-way throughout the state. Twelve sampling areas we...
متن کاملEnvironmental Fate of Diuron
This document reviews the environmental fate of diuron. The chemical (IUPAC) name for diuron is N-(3, 4-dichlorophenyl)-N, N-dimethylurea (C9H10Cl2N2O). In California, registered products containing the active ingredient diuron include Direx, Karmex, and Krovar (in combination with bromacil), among others. Diuron is often used in combination with other herbicides such as bromacil, hexazinone, p...
متن کاملPesticide and Nitrate Trends in Domestic Wells where Pesticide Use Is Regulated in Fresno and Tulare Counties, California.
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation initiated regulations on pesticide use in 1989 to mitigate groundwater contamination by atrazine [6-chloro--ethyl-'-(1-methylethyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine] and subsequently for simazine (6-chloro-,'-diethyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine), diuron ['-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-,-dimethylurea], bromacil [5-bromo-6-methyl-3-(1-methylpropyl)-2,4(1,3)-pyri...
متن کاملTryptophan analog resistance mutations in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.
Forty single gene mutations in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were isolated based on resistance to the compound 5'-methyl anthranilic acid (5-MAA). In other organisms, 5-MAA is converted to 5'-methyltryptophan (5-MT) and 5-MT is a potent inhibitor of anthranilate synthase, which catalyzes the first committed step in tryptophan biosynthesis. The mutant strains fall into two phenotypic classes based o...
